A concert of new original music in an intimate performance space in downtown Kalamazoo. We’ll be bringing live jazz to the Crawlspace Comedy Theater venue and we hope you’ll join us as we create a new home for live music, and warm up for a studio recording later in the week.
I’ve been doing a lot of writing in the last year or so during this pandemic lockdown. I mean, we musicians have all had a lot of free time on our hands, and I’ve been trying to put some of it to good use. Some of the music was inspired by events that happened during this time, and some of it just happened to be written during this time. It has turned out to be a fun set of trio music in a range of styles.
John and Keith are both such inspiring musical colleagues and I’ve been excited by the way they’ve been bringing this music to life in the rehearsals. I’m looking forward to sharing this music with a live audience, and then bringing the trio into the studio to record.
The plan is to press vinyl, with a tentative release date of February 2022. If you are interested in pre-ordering the album, you can do that right here on my website.
Pro tip: While the theater doesn’t have their liquor license just yet, they are within the Downtown Social District and you’d be welcome to pick up your own at your favorite local establishment and enjoy it during the show!
Thanks to Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo for generously supporting this project.
